Old Charlie Rhodes, Charlie Rhodes Old Charlie Rhodes, Charlie Rhodes I came across a man, with a stick shift in his hand He’s been drivin' all night and day, on this endless seeming highway I ask him how he’s been, he felt obliged to let me in He said, Kid, do me a favor, don’t end your life before it begins You can be what you want to be, don’t make the same mistakes as me Your life’s more than your occupation, so wont you listen to my narration, and he said Chorus: I’ve been out on the road for so long, The path I’ve taken, never seemed so wrong When I was young I got trapped in a maze, And I’ll be paying for it for the rest of my days So I asked him what he really wanted, from his life He replied, beautiful children, and a beautiful wife. But my marriage is in trouble, and my time is runnin' out, And I’ll never, never ever get off this same old trucker’s route, and he said Chorus

Midnight Sun 05:05
San Diego to Chugiak Miles and miles ain’t lookin back Highway signs through political lines Summer nights feel so fine Travelin through the country Way up into the north Sun’s always shinin’ , Train tracks whinin’ Bear round the corner Blue Skies Long summer nights Blue Skies Long summer nights Pines passin like the sides of a tunnel The white mountain at the end Drive a couple hundred And do it all over again River runs around the mountain Can’t see round the bend The long summer days and endless ways never seem to end Blue Skies Long summer nights Blue Skies Long summer nights Got miles and miles behind me Got miles and miles ahead Just feel the wind a blowin’ babe Let the sun beat down on your head Blue Skies Long summer nights In the land of the midnight sun It shines down on everyone

No Place 04:11
Watch the mist, rollin’ in Down the valley, and back again See my thoughts, escape the mind Certain things will be erased in time I wanna take you back with me To the Place I long to be The hops are greener, The women sweeter Ain’t a place I’d rather be Take your time, to catch you breath Feel the cool earth step after step Changes come, in every move Each moment never the same I wanna take you back with me To the Place I long to be The hops are greener, The women sweeter Ain’t a place I’d rather be See the clouds, changing shape Here now, but never the same Don’t need, to figure out why We are here and this is our time I wanna take you back with me To the Place I long to be The hops are greener, The women sweeter Ain’t a place I’d rather be, come and spend your days with me

Verse 1- When I die, please demand, they bury me with this guitar in my hand So I can play sweet music in my sleep The kind of soothing, my soul can keep Bury me, then plant a tree Maybe two, or maybe three Where one day, I’ll rest beneath a grove In a basket that them tree roots wove Chorus - I know some day, I’ll be movin’ on Will you remember me when I’m gone? Far across, the great divide I’ll be waiting for you on the other side Verse 2- When I die, don’t be sad Gather friends and celebrate like mad Cause I’ve finally lightened my load For my journey down that rainbow road Shed a tear, two at most No, I don’t want you worrying about my ghost Rest assured, I’ll rest in peace Waitin’ for that sweet release Chorus - I know some day, I’ll be movin’ on Will you remember me when I’m gone? Far across, the great divide I’ll be waiting for you on the other side Verse 3- I’m not scared, no not afraid For the coming of my dying day Cause the stars reflect my mind So I'll be with you ‘til the end of time When I die, where will I go? Who can say? Nobody knows. All the universe will show Are perfect circles down and endless road Chorus -

Free to Roam 04:56
Night lights are creepin’ in now Moon risin’ in the sky Cracklin’ of the fire The flame is my third eye The stars all speak a language That we all can hear Like love and compassion Just listen close, my dear Chorus: Time is on the inside Love is in the heart Time is on the inside Oh I’m free to roam One place in which we came from The same we will grow Like a flower that blooms will stand tall Until it’s time to go Our souls are free to fly now The wind is takin’ hold Like a kite on a hillside In the heartland I did know Chorus: Time is on the inside Love is in the heart Time is on the inside Oh I’m free to roam Oh it’s soothes my heart now That I am free to roam Like a snake in the bushes I’ll call this place my home Chorus (2): Home, I’ll call this place my home Oh I’m free to roam

If I was a ramblin’ man No longer could my feet withstand The itch to keep on travelin’, til my soles begin unravelin’, once again… I’d make my way from town to town, No job would ever hold me down, Never forget a face, but I’d barely leave a trace, when I move on…. Chorus: Said I’m on my way to, something better… Tryin to make some sense But I’m holding on to, all I’ve gone through, And it’s time, to let go Verse 2- If I was a ramblin’ man I’d long walk across a foreign land Not much more on my back, than this old and worn out pack, And my guitar…. You know I’m always on my way, And even if I wanted to stay, Never could stand still, always looking for the thrill, to end ‘em all … Chorus Said I’m on my way to, something better… Tryin to make some sense But I’m holding on to, things I’ve gone through, And it’s time, to let go Verse 3- If only I could face my fears I’m looking back on all these years Been moving down the line, losing sight of what’s behind, this weary mind Chorus If I was a ramblin’ man If I was a ramblin’ man If I was a ramblin’ man I’d have been gone a long time ago

Epic Journey 02:51
Well I've got three different girls I could be with tonight, but each one of them, I only half way like. If I could blend them up, and our them in a cup, you know I would drink them down. But I guess that I can't, so I'll drink whiskey instead. They say it makes you foggy, but it only clears my head. But things are so clear now that I can't see anything at all. So now I sit here in bliss, my face in front of a fan, while children are dying in Afghanistan, but I was raised not to care because I'm an American. Now the birds have quit singing, and that river starts to moan. A man steps back with a match, lights fire to his home. Some people will do anything, anything to stay warm. Now there's foxes on the TV that will eat peoples' minds. I close my eyes tight for lack of a better place to hide. Now the only thing that I believe is that everything is a lie. Now time it is melting, and there ain't too much left. Sometimes the epic journey feels like a pointless test, but pointlessness is beauty, and beauty always looks the best. Unguided hatred, faces mistaken, useless complaining, trying to ignore. But the sun's still shining, one day I'll be finding, that sweet sun shining right out my back door. Unguided hatred, faces mistaken, useless complaining, trying to ignore. But the sun's still shining, one day I'll be finding, that sweet sun shining right out my back door.

Life Goes On 04:03
I didn’t see it comin’ I guess that’s not all that true Acted like it didn’t matter I was blue over losing you Been kicked around so many times It’s best that it’s done Thought about leavin’ But I didn’t think you’d be the one Chorus: Life goes on Birds will sing their songs Clouds will roll on I’ll still the sing the songs I wrote for you I felt it when you weren’t callin Our luck was runnin’ out Saw your face And I knew what it was all about Tryin’ to think about the good times It’s not hard to do Spent so many times Searchin for the light with you Chorus: Life goes on Birds will sing their songs Clouds will roll on I’ll still the sing the songs I wrote for you Wonderin’ when the pain will ease And my mind is free of you I feel it comin’ When my heart won’t be so blue Now I spend my nights thinkin’ Of all the things I can do Lookin’ towards the rising sun Gonna let my heart be true Chorus: Life goes on Birds will sing their songs Clouds will roll on I’ll still the sing the songs I wrote for you

Drivin’ down this long stretch of highway Sure do wish that I could fly Sometimes things come’n’go so quickly The morning always comes so soon movin all around in my mind Took a drink of that jar-o-moonshine Filled my belly with that green organic life Spread some love, and shout it out I love to see you smile Don’t know what to do or what to say But I still get high My eyes start burnin’ up, think it’s time to fill my cup Sunshine’s here once again movin all around in my mind movin all around in my mind movin all around in my mind This rock has just spun around one more time

Big H Blues 05:45
Caught in the rain like a time change you don’t expect Wait for the train downtown, see the heroine kids Their pockets are full of balloons, but they sink to the ground. The city makes music, but they’re turning off the sound. And sometimes the world gets dark, but it always stays true Lord knows that I got me those hesitation Blues Like a clown without a circus Like the ones that love to hurt us Like the rough jagged surface Like a god without a purpose Like a warm dark hole where you would rather stay Here comes the train, and the lights look like 4th of July They stumble and drool like they ain’t got nothing to hide Their eyes roll back to heaven like Lord I’m gonna kiss the sky But that beauty looks ugly when you look it straight in the eye It ain’t the escape that’s wrong, it’s the escape that you choose Lord knows that I got me those hesitation Blues Like an unseen solar system Like the too late taken wisdom Like a tired migrant’s income Like the thief who played the victim Like a cards you’d rather fold than try to play Don’t Let it bring you down Don’t let ‘em bring you down Caught in the rain like a time change you don’t expect Wait for the sound to come out of your new speaker set The song is hard, but the way the band played it is soft The clocks they quit counting, and everything starts to stop…… But the time keeps rollin’ on, and there ain’t nothing I can do Lord knows that I got me those hesitation Blues How Long, do I have to wait? Can I get you know, Lord must I hesitate?
